Center for Responsible Lending

Center for Responsible Lending (CRL) is a non-profit, non-partisan research and policy organization dedicated to protecting homeownership and family wealth. They are an affiliate of SELF-HELP, one of the largest community development financial institutions in the country. CRL focuses on fighting consumer predatory lending practices. It uses research to develop reasonable, practical policy solutions which they share with advocates and policymakers interested in reforming lending practices at the state or federal level.

About Aleta Payne

Aleta is the Executive Director of Johnson Service Corps. Before joining JSC, Aleta spent 16 years with the NC Council of Churches where she held a variety of roles, from newsletter editor to Deputy Executive Director. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a degree in government and foreign affairs and spent much of her early career as a journalist.
