Commissioning of our 20th Cohort

September 9, 2020 · Andrew Hudgins

Will you, who are joined together in community with one another, faithfully carry out the duties of your ministry to the honor of God and to the benefit of those whom you are called to serve?

We will.

This past Sunday The Rev. Elizabeth Marie Melchionna, rector at The Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church in Chapel Hill, commissioned the 20th cohort of JSC volunteers. These eight young adults have boldly committed themselves to a year of intentional community living, servant leadership training, spiritual formation, and community service in the face of so much uncertainty.

Ordinarily this commissioning would be part of the Sunday morning worship service at The Chapel of the Cross, but we do not have to remind you that these are no ordinary times. Instead, we gathered via Zoom earlier in the week and recorded the following video that was played during the livestream of the service. We are grateful that technology has allowed us to still commission this incredible group and be able to share it with you here.
