Our Partners at the Compass Center

November 26, 2017

Each month, Johnson Service Corps will feature one of our Partner Organizations. For November, we are excited to share information about the Compass Center for Women and Families provided by Development and Communications Coordinator Vivian Muzyk.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Compass Center for Women and Families is a nonprofit that helps individuals and families navigate their journey to safety, self-sufficiency, and health.  We provide career and financial literacy education, assistance with legal resources, and adolescent empowerment programs. Additionally, we are the only Orange County resource for comprehensive domestic violence crisis services. Compass Center is proud to serve more than 5,000 clients each year.

Some of our current initiatives include free Family Law Workshops with local attorneys.  At these information sessions, people get answers to questions about divorce, separation, child custody, spousal support and more. We also offer a variety of financial services. Community volunteers conduct one-on-one financial counseling sessions to help clients manage their money, learn to save to buy a home, and overcome any credit or debt issues they may have.

Compass Center is always looking for community volunteers, especially in the following roles:

– Financial Coach (experienced coaches or financially knowledgeable professionals)

– Career Coach

– Domestic Violence Hotline Advocate

– Spanish Interpreters/Translator

-Development Committee Member

-Finance Committee Member

To learn more about volunteer opportunities email Ashley Parks at clientservices@compassctr.org or call 919-968-4610. Sign up today to be a part of our next training session in early 2018.

For those looking to host a drive or donate items, Compass Center is in most need of the following items:

–Gas Cards and Grocery Cards – so our clients can get to court and care for their families.

–Writing Journals and Composition Books – for our support groups.

–Unopened, Full-Sized Toiletries – especially toothpaste, deodorant, shaving cream, and razors.
