Tasha Graham: 1 Year after JSC

April 22, 2025

Hello, JSC community!

I have been quite busy since graduating from JSC almost a year ago.  That is still so wild to say!

I got into grad school!  Funny enough, I found out about the acceptance a few weeks after my JSC year ended.   I got accepted into the Master of Fine Arts Animation program at DePaul University, in Chicago, Illinois.  I decided to defer for a year to save up money and to apply for scholarships to help fund my education.  The enrollment process for grad school officially starts next month, with classes set to start this September!

I’ve also taken this time to spend quality time with all the family, friends, and mentors that I love and who always remind me of the greatness within me.

I was able to find a roommate in Durham thanks to my old housemate and anime buddy, Trey O’neal.   I was a political canvasser for the Kamala Harris presidential campaign for about 2 months. I have a lot of wild stories from that job!

Now, I’m working at the Museum of Life and Science!  A place that I have many fond memories of visiting as a child.   So, if ever you come to visit, I’ll check you in at the front desk or charge you for a large plushie in the gift shop!

This past year has not been easy.  But I have made it through thanks to the people that God has sent my way – little blessings in hand. I am truly full of gratitude and hope for the future.  I know God’s got my back, and I know that victory is only possible through Him.

If anyone in the community knows about any resources such as scholarships, grants, and other resources for grad students, I would appreciate it if you could send them my way! Also, if anyone knows someone who is a DePaul University alum, I would love to connect with them and hear their stories of how they made it through.

Thank you all for caring enough to read to the end! Stay blessed.
