JSC Alum Reflection: Emma Sternlof

December 19, 2024

It’s hard to believe I began my JSC journey in August 2013, more than eleven years ago! JSC brought me to beautiful North Carolina, where I met my beloved husband and continue to make a home. The program gave me the skills and nonprofit experience I needed to enter the reproductive rights and justice sector, where I’m still working today. And JSC connected me to incredible friends, like my mentor Nancy. Right now, as I grow into motherhood and re-engage with Christianity after some time away, JSC’s lessons around ritual, community, and devotion are reverberating in unexpected ways. I’m grateful for this opportunity to reflect anew on how JSC transformed my life (and to shout out my fellow alum Andy Phillips, still holding it down in the Triangle after all these years!

Emma Sternlof was a JSC corps member from 2013-2014

Emma joined Heather and Julia at the office in Spring 2024 to help put together the Alumni map!
