End of Year Reflections

July 29, 2020 · Andrew Hudgins

Due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic this year we were unable to hold our annual End-of-Year Celebration as we normally would- in the fellowship hall at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Durham, with our entire community of mentors, partner organization supervisors, local alum, members of our Board, and other longtime supporters and friends of JSC.

Instead of showcasing the Presentations on Learning and Service (POLS) of our 11 incredible young adults, they have put together a video reflecting on their JSC experience. It is almost cliche to say at this point, but this has been a year unlike any other. They have remained committed and engaged through it all. They’ve challenged us and pushed us to live more fully into our values as an organization. They’ve served our community and helped to make it a more just and equitable place for everyone.

To Austin, Bryar, Carina, Dani, Drew, Kianna, Izzie, Isabel, Margaret, Nicole, and Reid: Thank you. We are so proud to have you as alumni of our program and cannot wait to see what you do next.
