Two Busy, Busy Weeks

September 4, 2019

Our Corps Members always have a busy first two weeks with JSC. Not only do they get to know each other, but they also get to know a bit about the communities where they’ll be serving and about all our partner organizations. Added to the mix are trainings on topics like safe spaces, conflict resolution, consensus building, financial literacy, self-care, and the Enneagram.

We visited the State Capitol, the Northside Neighborhood in Chapel Hill, the West End Neighborhood in Durham, and the Episcopal Farmworker Ministry in Dunn. We heard about the landscape for nonprofits in North Carolina and had lunch at a pay-what-you-can restaurant in Raleigh where the founder explained her vision for the place and what it had taken to make it a reality. We finished our Core Weeks with a commissioning and pounding party at the Chapel of the Cross.

The groups who made all of this possible were our marvelous workshop presenters, tour leaders, and community friends as well as our Corps Members who brought energy, enthusiasm, and great questions throughout the last two weeks. We are grateful!
