Center for Responsible Lending (CRL) is a non-profit, non-partisan research and policy organization dedicated to protecting homeownership and family wealth. They are an affiliate of SELF-HELP, one of the largest community development financial institutions in the country. CRL focuses on fighting consumer predatory lending practices. It uses research to develop reasonable, practical policy solutions which they share with advocates and policymakers interested in reforming lending practices at the state or federal level.
Partners for Youth Opportunity exists to more effectively address the growing “opportunity gap” resulting from the chronic disconnection of Durham youth from economic and educational opportunities. PYO works to help students succeed in school, find jobs and supportive mentors, and go places they haven’t experienced before with a focus on immigrant families, families living in poverty, and families with incarcerated members.
Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice
The Pauli Murray Center engages a diversity of community members to lift up the vision and legacy of activist, scholar, feminist, poet, and Episcopal priest Pauli Murray in order to tackle enduring inequities and injustice. The center envisions communities actively working toward fairness and justice across divisions such as race, class, sexual and gender identity and spiritual practice. It embraces the transformative power of collecting and telling stories and truths as a process that heals these divisions and promotes human rights.
The Rural Advancement Foundation International’s (RAFI-USA) mission is to cultivate markets, policies, and communities that sustain thriving, socially just, and environmentally sound family farms. We work nationally and internationally, focusing on North Carolina and the southeastern United States.
